Adding a blur to a photo with a large depth of field
Blending faces (Extra Credit)
- Import an image into photoshop
- Under the layers tab, create a new adjustment layer. Select black and white
- In the black and white layer click the white box so it is specifically selected
- Go to the brush tool and select the color black
- Draw with black on the photo so the color is revealed
- If any mistakes are made change to the color white and it will remove any exposed color
Adding a blur to a photo with a large depth of field
- Import an image to photoshop and duplicate it into two different layers
- Select the top layer. In the Layer tab click the icon next to the Fx symbol to Add a layer mask
- With the layer still selected go to filter → blur → lens blur select ok
- Select the brush tool and click on the mask you created. You can no draw in which areas you want to be in focus.
- Play with brush size and brush hardness. Also using the magnetic lasso tool can be a great tool if you want to unblur an intricate area of the photo
Blending faces (Extra Credit)
- Import two similarly angled and lighted photos of humans onto two separate layers (profile, portrait, dark, light, etc.)
- Make one of the layers invisible by clicking the eye icon in the layers tab.
- Select the remaining visible layer and navigate to your tool bar.
- Select the clone stamp tool in the tool bar.
- Hold down alt/option and click once on a feature of the human you wish to place on the other humans face
- Make the current layer invisible and the other layer visible by clicking the eye icon in the layers tab. Click on the newly visible layer
- Go to the feature you had selected on the previous human and began drawing over it by clicking and dragging.
- Press command + alt + Z to undo it until it looks how you want.
- For a more feathered/blended look reduce the hardness of your brush by clicking the circle with a number under it in the upper left of your screen.
- Repeat for any additional features and feel free to blend more than two images into one, just look out for lighting and angel differences. Be sure the layer you are clone stamping is selected, it is a common mistake to have the wrong layer selected.
