Art 1 students are working on developing the following skills while creating still-life drawings with graphite:
Composition: using viewfinders to find effective compositions that use cropping, rule of thirds, overlapping, movement, and negative spaces.
Observational drawing skills: sighting, using negative spaces, seeing relationships b/w objects, and NOT relying on schema, but using the visual language of lines, shapes, and angles in their right brains.
Value & Form: accurately observing and placing highlights and shadows, implying lines, creating high contrast, and separating space to define edges.
